Born in London In 1953 I grew up in East Sussex and studied for a foundation in fine art at Eastbourne College of Art and design 1971.

Then I moved to London where I received a BA in painting from St. Martins in 1975. During this time I was squatting in a communal house in Brixton and this was probably a more formative experience than Art College. I developed many of my practical skills from fixing up derelict houses.

In 1979 I moved to Ireland and have lived in Donegal ever since.
